About the event
Through this class, participants will learn how to create an arrangement with a "Tornado" and they will get to take home this tool. These tornadoes have been purchased from the Sogetsu Foundation in Tokyo and are an authentic ikebana tool. The Sogetsu Foundation offers this tool in a variety of colors such as: red, yellow, black, white, gold, and silver. Participants will create an arrangement with a YELLOW tornado for this class.
A "Tornado" is a new type of flower holder that is made out of spiral wire on the inside and has a vinyl coating on the outside. This tool is lightweight but can hold flowers securely. The wire diameter is 6mm and the length is 3m. The arranger can create whatever shape they like with the tornado; for example, it can be unraveled to make a chaotic organic shape of spiral wire or it can be meticulously shaped to create a specific form. The tornado can be used with a low, flat, shallow container with a kenzan (moribana style) or with a tall upright container with a crossbar (nageire style). There are lots of unique and fun approaches that the tornado offers the arranger so enjoy being creative!
