Slinky Cosmos

Through this class, participants will learn how to create an ikebana arrangement with aluminum wire, Slinkys, and fresh plant material.  Colored 12-gauge aluminum floral wire will be provided as well as colored Slinky's.  The wire will be used to create an armature to hold the plant materials in place and will provide a unique cosmos-like atmosphere.  The Slinky's can be wired into a donut-shape, stretched out to create a rollercoaster-vibe, or even cut up into multiple smaller Slinky’s.  Creatively use these unconventional materials (non-plant materials) in a way that best fits your personality.  Then, the participants will infuse the fresh plant materials into the arrangement.  Think about how the wire/Slinky structure should be combined with the fresh materials.  Should they be contrasted or harmonized?  At the end, participants will walk away with a one of kind ikebana arrangement that will be "out of this world".

• Class will be held at Yanagi Botanic Arts Studio located inside Yobel/ The Look Up Gallery building.  Paid parking is available through street parking and parking lots.   

• All tools and plant materials are provided; for this class, please bring your own container so that you can take home your Slinky Cosmos.
