About the event
Through this class, participants will learn how to create a fall ikebana arrangement using dried materials and fall-inspired seasonal material. Use both dried material and fresh materials to symbolically mark the transition of seasons and/or to show transformation. A dialogue can be created to showcase what still grows and what begins to fade. Dried materials can be arranged differently than fresh materials. They can be arranged in positions independent of the container (outside the container, interconnected with other material, and or upside down). Try to think creatively about the positioning, spacing, and overall composition. Principles of design can help you make an effective arrangement such as contrasting surfaces of dried and fresh materials, balancing the different materials, and/or creating emphasize with either dried or fresh material. Overall, enjoy collaborating with the seasonal material to create a fall-inspired ikebana arrangement.
• Class will be held at Yanagi Botanic Arts Studio located inside Yobel/ The Look Up Gallery building.
