About the event

Through this class, participants will experience and focus on creating an arrangement with all green materials in honor of St. Patrick's Day.  Green is a powerful color that can make one feel relaxed, calm, and at peace.  It also evokes a feeling “to grow” or “growing”.  Think of how you feel when you hike through a thriving forest or go for a walk along a trail.  Remember that feeling and try to capture that beauty through ikebana.  Notice the different color tones and textures within the materials, create an arrangement that speaks to you, and use your own self-expression to reveal the beauty of green materials.

Focus on the green color of plants and use a variety of materials such as but not limited to:  green flowers, branches, reeds, stems, and/or leaves.  Avoid using materials that have too strong an impact and/or are too textured (such as mottled or speckled leaves).  Any combination of plant materials is fine, as long as they are all green.  The color of the container can be freely chosen although the contrast or harmony with the green shade must be taken into account; when in doubt, choose a green or neutral colored container.  Be creative in your approach to arranging all green materials, and try your best to express each material with intention and purpose.

• Class will be held at Yanagi Botanic Arts Studio located inside Yobel/ The Look Up Gallery building.
